Picaresque

Picaresque is the adjective to describe writings about a common or low character who survives the pitfalls of life through luck or good fortune. My travels, interests, my animals, my photographs, my wonderful friends and family are featured.

(Note: Blogs read from bottom to top; scroll down for beginnings, scroll up for most current.) After 30 years in public administration and four degrees, as well as numerous workshops with luminaries in Education and Public Policy, life in a slower lane became a goal. Most recently I have done policy writing and consulting for the Northern Arapaho and Eastern Shoshone Tribes. Mostly, I am just coasting slowly and gently downhill these days-seeking joy where I can find it before the glorious ride ends.

Birds of Prey/Ice Cream Social

A Docent from the Gumbo-Limbo Nature Preserve came on a beautiful Wednesday to make a very interesting presentation. It had been postponed three times because of the weather. It was well attended. The Docent was a black man. I didn't use my flash because I didn't want to startle the critters. He passed a docile snake around. Marc held it and was surprised at how smooth and non-slimy it was.
We even got the staff out for this one. This was the last official event of the season.
I helped serve the ice cream for the ice cream social. The $1.00 charge for the Potlucks has resulted in a nice kitty for the future and Lots of ice cream, sugar wafers, and syrups were on hand for a linger-longer gabfest. Seconds and thirds were common and people seemed to have a good time.
