Picaresque

Picaresque is the adjective to describe writings about a common or low character who survives the pitfalls of life through luck or good fortune. My travels, interests, my animals, my photographs, my wonderful friends and family are featured.

(Note: Blogs read from bottom to top; scroll down for beginnings, scroll up for most current.) After 30 years in public administration and four degrees, as well as numerous workshops with luminaries in Education and Public Policy, life in a slower lane became a goal. Most recently I have done policy writing and consulting for the Northern Arapaho and Eastern Shoshone Tribes. Mostly, I am just coasting slowly and gently downhill these days-seeking joy where I can find it before the glorious ride ends.

Out Came the Sun and dried the...

Failing to "Spring Forward" with the clock caused Ken to come rapping on my door for a Finnish Pancake breakfast. But I presented myself rapidly. Finnish pancakes are similar to what my dad fixed us as "Roll-up pancakes." Mostly egg, they are also similar to crepes but a little thicker and the size of dinner plates. Ken squeezed fresh orange juice, and brewed strong Finnish coffee to complete the menu. A very agreeable start to a day which grew warmer and merely breezy.

I helped Joyce clean up her email in-box. She was surprised: She said she unplugged her computer at home when they left and thought that would stop the email. (!!!??)

I took a good bike ride and enjoyed it. Then I was off to the beach to take a few pictures and survey the damage from the weather. Palm fronds were everywhere. This top picture shows the rock shore denuded of sand from the storm.
These orange flotation device men must be Spring Break kids-too pasty white to be Floridians. There was a pretty good surf at play today. Somewhere I lost the lens cap to my Sony when switching to the long lens. I am hoping it is in the van someplace. I went back to the beach to search for it and could not find it.

When I returned to my campground site I detected the aroma of grilled steak. Gary and Joyce were grilling their dinner on my grill! (See last post for clairvoyant feeling). No big whoop.

I stopped by Lew and Greg's. They are leaving for a couple of weeks at Lake Okeechobee. They plan to return for some time here. I did not know that so I made my good byes and now will look forward to seeing them again this season.
