Picaresque

Picaresque is the adjective to describe writings about a common or low character who survives the pitfalls of life through luck or good fortune. My travels, interests, my animals, my photographs, my wonderful friends and family are featured.

(Note: Blogs read from bottom to top; scroll down for beginnings, scroll up for most current.) After 30 years in public administration and four degrees, as well as numerous workshops with luminaries in Education and Public Policy, life in a slower lane became a goal. Most recently I have done policy writing and consulting for the Northern Arapaho and Eastern Shoshone Tribes. Mostly, I am just coasting slowly and gently downhill these days-seeking joy where I can find it before the glorious ride ends.

Cute Little Shitsoos (Shih Tzus) and

I think they share the same hairdresser. When she wasn't rubbing her Shih Tzu, she was scratching her shnauzer. Her husband enjoys them too. A really nice lady. A new camper discovered she had ants and this lady trotted home for her bug powder.

It is liberating to be among (mostly) older people who are less than physically perfect. Relax and enjoy and laugh. The beauty contest days are behind us.

Lori decided she and Jason needed to escape the quarantine so they drove up. We walked Juneau and Buster and Scamper's mom gave the dogs treats. Scamper lives at number 58 and we were invited over. Scamper is a Lhasa Apso mix from the animal rescue and is cute as a button. No picture yet.

Lori looked pale at the get-go and I watched Jason fade. A nasty bug they are recovering from. They brought Christmas treats from White Deer: Wedding cookies, a Polish coffeecake with a layer of poppyseeds- tasty and interesting, and a house troll from Eve's kiln in Oregon. I tried to get Juneau to trot along beside the bike which worked pretty well until he would catch a whiff of something interesting. Came within inches of crashing into a tent. He is a big strong dog. With a little work I think he would do fine. This may be a better job for someone with health insurance.

I introduced the kids to Harold and Julia and asked about the game they were going to play yesterday. It was indeed Bean Bag Toss, the reason for calling the game because of rain became clear- sprouted beans would behave a whole lot differently. Canadians do seem to have more playfulness in them than Americans.
The airplane's owner came to retrieve his toy. He is an XXXL man who rides a recumbent trike. It is best to avert the eyes when he is facing you head-on. More information than you can safely process. But more power to him for putting movment in his life.

Took some pictures, fixed my porch light, cleaned house and showered, ate leftovers. Took a leisurely bike ride. An easy day in pleasant weather. Very enjoyable and hugging my kiddoes and grandpup was very nice.
