Picaresque

Picaresque is the adjective to describe writings about a common or low character who survives the pitfalls of life through luck or good fortune. My travels, interests, my animals, my photographs, my wonderful friends and family are featured.

(Note: Blogs read from bottom to top; scroll down for beginnings, scroll up for most current.) After 30 years in public administration and four degrees, as well as numerous workshops with luminaries in Education and Public Policy, life in a slower lane became a goal. Most recently I have done policy writing and consulting for the Northern Arapaho and Eastern Shoshone Tribes. Mostly, I am just coasting slowly and gently downhill these days-seeking joy where I can find it before the glorious ride ends.

Brighter Day

One of my regular Internet users surfs while rain pours off the awning this morning. But the day, while gray, was temperate. Puttering was my main activity. Returned a call to Rich, called the kids who are still struggling with the flu. Jason felt worse today than yesterday when he thought he was on the mend. I amazed myself- I went in search of a plastic pink flamingo, which I deride. I was going to make a joky lawn display but struck out after humiliating myself by asking several stores if they stocked pink flamingoes. I found a ceramic rabbit which was keeping with the spirit of my intent. I blew $20 at Dollar General on 3 area rugs. I washed all mine last year and they lost some form and their ability to shed dirt, as often happens. I got my value out of them and will wash the old ones one more time and use them in the patio area-next stop, the dumpster. The new ones look nice.

I took a good, long, swift bike ride and got some exercise. Buster took me on a new long exploration. A nap descended on us. Relaxing day and I am yawning right now. Early to bed, perhaps, if for no other reason than to escape Britney Spears latest disintegration. Is she the cover girl for holding onto chastity too long? When that genie got out of the bottle, it came out in spades. Nah, her little sister didn't wait and she seems a little slutty too. I was so looking forward to mom's book on Christian child-rearing.

I think I will go to the Palm Beach Zoo tomorrow and taunt the tigers.
