(Note: Blogs read from bottom to top; scroll down for beginnings, scroll up for most current.) After 30 years in public administration and four degrees, as well as numerous workshops with luminaries in Education and Public Policy, life in a slower lane became a goal. Most recently I have done policy writing and consulting for the Northern Arapaho and Eastern Shoshone Tribes. Mostly, I am just coasting slowly and gently downhill these days-seeking joy where I can find it before the glorious ride ends.

Superbowl Weekend

Jason and Lori took a day and night at the Hard Rock Casino. Grampie babysat- and felt like the kids must have in the olden days- "the adults are gone, let's play!" Greg and Lew came down after they went to Rattlesnakes Jake's and arrived for Corona's and cheese and crackers. Well, it was not so genteel as that. Four dogs played-Buster almost played- he is very interested in Pupper- about his size. I figured out the whole-house speaker system and we listened to 70's music from the XM station. In fact I sat on the patio well into the night listening to tunes.

Sunday I was waiting for Home Depot to open. An 80 year old Jewish lady was waiting and told me what a soul was. I gathered potting soil: 40 pounds, pot dollies, sixteen plants, fertilizer and a watering can for Lori's surprise. I planted a huge pot they had, and two smaller ones, overheating my radiator in the process. I was soaked and recuperating when the kids came home. Juneau was glad to see his folks though we had a grand time. He decided to go hot tubbing.

New Brunswick had a Superbowl Party here in the park. Dr. Rosenberg and Jan made a big bowl of "Crawl to your RV punch:" Wine, Vodka, honey, cinnamon sticks, and a glass rimmed with sugar. Hits the bloodstream suddenly. Patsy made some great chili- steak and veggies included in it, and there was vegetarian pizza, and fruit and chips and dips. Games were played. One lady brought her popcorn machine and fixed us big bags of popcorn to eat while we watched the game at home. Gosh these are kindly, good people. Good conversation. Doc Rosenberg and I gabbed for a goodly spell- he treks from upstate New York to visit Harold's "Camp." I complimented Harold's engineering on the bolo game goals "for a chemist." He said he had designed and built three homes in New Brunswick: their first, their present, and a home for Julie's parents.
Wish I had bet big on the NY Giants. ( I didn't bet at all.) I thought it would be nice for New England to have a perfect season but I was not disappointed in the game at all. New York played very well and New England just missed it. That is why they hold these contests.
