Picaresque

Picaresque is the adjective to describe writings about a common or low character who survives the pitfalls of life through luck or good fortune. My travels, interests, my animals, my photographs, my wonderful friends and family are featured.

(Note: Blogs read from bottom to top; scroll down for beginnings, scroll up for most current.) After 30 years in public administration and four degrees, as well as numerous workshops with luminaries in Education and Public Policy, life in a slower lane became a goal. Most recently I have done policy writing and consulting for the Northern Arapaho and Eastern Shoshone Tribes. Mostly, I am just coasting slowly and gently downhill these days-seeking joy where I can find it before the glorious ride ends.

Sunday Evening in Deerfield

Do I look pleased? What a nice thing to get a hug from your grown son- and a great dinner for just us three. Lori opened a bottle of Russian wine and found it too sweet, so I got it to enjoy and bring home. Jason had gone to the Fresh Market for shish-kebabs, asparagus, sweet potatoes ( Lori had a russet), and he cooked two-thirds of it on the grill. We had quality time to talk- just us chickens. Such a rare event and the sweeter because of it. I am a lucky man.
The Sony camera did a great job of capturing the scenes in the dark. Add music, soft breezes, two agreeable dogs to entertain and feed scraps to, and I am hard pressed to think how the evening could have been improved.
