Picaresque

Picaresque is the adjective to describe writings about a common or low character who survives the pitfalls of life through luck or good fortune. My travels, interests, my animals, my photographs, my wonderful friends and family are featured.

(Note: Blogs read from bottom to top; scroll down for beginnings, scroll up for most current.) After 30 years in public administration and four degrees, as well as numerous workshops with luminaries in Education and Public Policy, life in a slower lane became a goal. Most recently I have done policy writing and consulting for the Northern Arapaho and Eastern Shoshone Tribes. Mostly, I am just coasting slowly and gently downhill these days-seeking joy where I can find it before the glorious ride ends.

New Neighbors

The park is filling up. Three new neighbors in the past two days. One couple, from Georgia, has a huge fifth wheel camper. Watching them backing in I said to myself-"no thanks." They are nice people. He is taciturn, she practically acts everything out. She speaks fluent French, though American born, and I used her for a translator with Marcel whose English improved suddenly. We share an interest in photography and computer graphics. He was a professional photographer. Possibly I can learn to take better pictures. Ron, the neighbor in the back has been here in the past. He has a profoundly disabled son.

I'm starting to feel stalked by Tim. He leaves early to go fish so that is fine. After he returns, he and Milo are in my front yard with another recap of "How I caught the fish." The only thing that changes is the kind and size of fish. I can feel my eyeballs rolling back as the stories drone on. I had fresh (two days ago) Wahoo to cook and was looking forward to getting rid of it but he pooped round about letting me know so it will have to wait until tomorrow. I am not a "steady diet" person in very many things.

Evidently I was running a sleep deficit because I did barely make it to the bed for a good nap. It got right toasty in the middle of this day so we all had a siesta under the air conditioning.
