Picaresque

Picaresque is the adjective to describe writings about a common or low character who survives the pitfalls of life through luck or good fortune. My travels, interests, my animals, my photographs, my wonderful friends and family are featured.

(Note: Blogs read from bottom to top; scroll down for beginnings, scroll up for most current.) After 30 years in public administration and four degrees, as well as numerous workshops with luminaries in Education and Public Policy, life in a slower lane became a goal. Most recently I have done policy writing and consulting for the Northern Arapaho and Eastern Shoshone Tribes. Mostly, I am just coasting slowly and gently downhill these days-seeking joy where I can find it before the glorious ride ends.

At Home for a few days

Got home about 4:00 p.m. yesterday, Saturday after a nice Brunch with Rich and Valerie in Casper. Valerie had taken her Swedish exchange student and her daughter to Hawaii to see her daughter who is attending University there. Rich was the anchor for the whole outfit- feeding
Valerie's, Labradors and otherwise keeping track of us travelers. It was good to see them and I will do it again this week as I need to get the coach down there for some look-sees.

My rough rule of thumb for traveling in the Coach is $100/day "in transit." It gets much cheaper standing. In my van it runs (ran) about $40.00/day for gas and motel about $60.00 so I was trying to keep comparable. I started having to pay around $2.30 per gallon for gas on the way home in the Coach. That shoots my rule of thumb in the hinders.

That and the mountain passes make me think the next leg of my journey, to Oregon, will be done in the Van. I know of a motel in Medford that will accept pets and so I will ready the Van for this. I wil try to make some modifications so two dogs will fit and I can Blog a bit along the way.

I am anxious to get my mitts on little Audrey Roberts and see how her parents are adjusting to their new life. A busy week ahead. Makes LISTS!
